Works created on the island of Florianópolis in Brazil.

Remember, as in “Robinson Crusoe”: he wanted to build the largest boat, but when he built it he couldn’t move it from its place. Such is human nature — forever striving for the big and the great.

In Brazil I am creating a project that, together with me, rethinks the importance of striving for goals and shows the opposite — life in observation of the present. How the edge of a palm leaf curls, what colour the ocean really is, and what the dried flowers washed ashore resemble.

This is an exploration of freedom through rejecting imposed standards of success. Finding a new state — living in the present moment. It was right here, in Brazil, that I wanted to explore this theme: how environment affects the manifestation of one’s own identity. It is fascinating to observe.
