«The Useless One»

How can form and colour tell that she is no longer chasing goals, but relaxing and allowing herself to live calmly in the unknowing of the future, doing “useless” things, trusting the process and the world? Originally this vase was meant to be pink. But I added too little pigment and it came out “insufficient”. I covered it in layers of flowing emerald clay, yet something was missing. So I took pencils and, in the handwriting of a diligent schoolgirl, wrote “Useless” — so that everyone would understand at once and have no questions for the artist. But the wild jungle nature around me took over, and across the vase spilled the artefacts of my life on the island — Brazilian hills with bananas and araucarias in the night light of silence.
